How can I integrate CreativeX into my workspace to generate scores on my ads?

How to set up the CreativeX integration in Pencil, switch your scoring source to CreativeX, and request scores on individual ads, videos, images, and variations.

Written by Elliott Connelly

Introduction

CreativeX is a powerful and widely used tool in the creative industry. It analyses visual content to ensure it aligns with brand guidelines and proven performance principles, producing a CreativeX Score that can guide creative decisions before deployment.

CreativeX checks for:

  • Logo placement and visibility

  • Safe zone adherence

  • Representation and inclusivity standards

  • Text-to-image ratios

Integrating CreativeX with Pencil means you can access these scores for ads you've made in Pencil before exporting them, giving you the opportunity to make further refinements if necessary.

Combined with Pencil's ability to generate variations, this creates a feedback loop: your next round of creative work can prioritise what actually performs, so generation becomes performance-optimised by design rather than by trial and error.

How to connect CreativeX to your workspace

To begin, link your CreativeX account to your Pencil workspace using your unique API credentials.

  1. Open Settings by clicking the Settings icon in the bottom-left corner of your workspace.

  2. Navigate to Scores, then select CreativeX.

  3. Click Configure, enter your API Key, then click Validate to finalise the connection.

How to view CreativeX scores on your assets

Each asset in your Work view shows a score in the corner of its thumbnail. By default, this is the Pencil score.

To switch the displayed score to CreativeX:

  1. Open the Score settings dropdown above the grid or table.

  2. Change the Source from Pencil to CreativeX.

The score on each asset thumbnail will then reflect its CreativeX Score.

How to request a CreativeX Score

CreativeX scoring is processed on a per-asset basis. You can request a score from three places in your workspace.

When you request a score, you'll be prompted to select a brand.

Grid view

  1. Find your asset in the thumbnail grid.

  2. Click the Score dropdown on the asset.

  3. Select Request CreativeX Score.

Table view

  1. Locate the Average Score column in your list.

  2. Click the dropdown within that column for your chosen asset.

  3. Select Request Score.

Inside the Editor

  1. While working on a creative, find the Score dropdown in the top navigation or toolbar.

  2. Click Request Score to analyse the creative you are editing.

Supported asset types and limitations

CreativeX scoring works with the following formats: Ads, Videos, Images, and Variations.

Bulk scoring is not supported. Each asset must be requested individually using one of the methods above.

Timing: scores typically return within minutes but can take up to twenty-four hours.
