How Can I Generate Videos Using Pencil?

This article introduces users to the various ways to generate videos in Pencil

Pencil's image-to-video tools are integrated across our open-garden platform, giving you easy access to market-leading video generation capabilities.

You can generate videos in a variety of ways in Pencil:

Agent Chats: Chatting with an agent, and describing your video in plain natural language, such as the Video Editor agent.

Ads Editor: Using the in-build video generation tool in ads editor (video ads or display ads, but not static ads, which, by definition, can't include video). Here you can write text prompts, select your preferred model, set resolution, number of outputs and add images into the context for guided generation - such as product packshots, start frames, or character reference sheets.

In Workflows and in Sheets: Both Workflows and Sheets allow scaled video generation using either the aforementioned video gen agents, as cells in Sheets, or as nodes in Workflows. You can also use a simple Generate Video cell or node. These allow you to use the base model with no agent or system prompt above it. You can select models and settings, as well as prompts and input reference images (or even videos for new models that support video input) using this method.

Please note: While Omni models such as Kling 3 Omni do support video inputs - as well as image references and text guidance - using an existing video as an input for AI-driven transformation or regeneration is not a currently supported use case in Pencil.
