Written by Elliott Connelly

Templates give you a consistent, on-brand starting point for generating creatives. You create and edit them in the Ads editor, and they are stored in the Files Library alongside your assets, works and generations.

Where do I find my templates?

Locate your Templates by navigating to the Files library, and clicking the Templates tab. You can sort and filter your templates by Category, Label, Status, Date, or Format.

Hover over a template to use it, or click the three dots to edit, duplicate or delete it.

Creating a new template

Click New template and choose the type of template you want to create:

  1. Create static ad template. A fixed layout for image-led ads. Static templates support video as well as image assets.

  2. Create video ad template. A template built around video content.

  3. Create email template. A template for email creatives.

  4. Create display ad template. A template for interactive display ads. Display templates support video as well as image assets.

  5. Paste template IDs. Add existing templates to this workspace by pasting their IDs.

  6. Import .pencil file. Import a template saved as a Pencil file (used for Figma files via the plugin).

  7. Import AE package. Import an After Effects package.

  8. Import .psd file. Import a Photoshop file.

Whichever type you choose, the template opens in the Ads editor.

Editing your template

Use the panel on the left to add elements to your ad:

  • Generate new assets like images and videos using different AI models.

  • Add copy, such as a headlines, body text, or CTAs.

  • Add assets or works that you created previously to use as elements in your ad.

  • Add elements, such as buttons, stickers and shapes.

  • Click Brand to add backgrounds, logos or default looks.

Use the panel on the right to define overall ad settings like canvas size and formats; to define the layer order; and to edit any elements in your ad. Here you can:

  • Change the background.

  • Add a layout grid.

  • Activate Print mode which includes bleeds and safe zones.

  • Edit an image; the editor tools appear when you click on an image.

  • Edit copy; the editor tools appear when you click on copy.

Working with formats and layers

Use the right hand panel to:

  • View your template in different formats. You can also use AI Auto Resize to automatically reformat your ad across as many formats and sizes as you need.

  • Edit formats: click on any format to edit it.

  • Toggle Edit all formats: turn the toggle on to make any changes apply across every format in one go. Toggle it off if you need to make changes to a single format, without altering anything on all your other formats.

  • Edit Layers: adjust individual elements and images.

Saving your template

Click Save to add your template to the Files Library, ready to use as a starting point for generating creatives in Workflows or in Feed variation sheets.
